It's official! Barcelona have announced that head coach Flick has signed a new deal at the club, which will see him remain at the helm for an additional year, until June 2027. The news was announced on Wednesday evening, with the club's official statement reading: "Hansi Flick has made Barca fans happy in his first season for many reasons: for the belief he has given to the team, for the epic comebacks, and for the trophies. The excitement that the German has brought to the club in his first year in charge has made FC Barcelona a feared rival once again in Europe."

After a disastrous 2023-24 season under Xavi, Barca president Joan Laporta decided to sack the club legend unceremoniously. A number of candidates were linked with the high-pressure Barcelona job, but the higher-ups ultimately decided to appoint Flick, who had proven his credentials as a serial winner with Bayern Munich between 2019 to 2021. The move worked wonders, as Flick guided the Catalans to a historic domestic treble, clinching the LaLiga, Copa del Rey, and Supercopa de Espana trophies.
When Flick signed with the Blaugrana, he had a deal in place only until the end of the 2025-26 season. But it goes without saying that after his first season, the club's bosses would have wanted to tie him down to a longer deal. Flick, though, didn't want to sign a long-term extension, which is why his contract has been renewed for one additional year, until 2027.

Flick has managed 59 games in all competitions this season, winning a whopping 43 games. His win percentage of 72.88 per cent is the second-highest for any Barca manager in his debut season. The record for the highest win percentage is held by Luis Enrique, who won 50 games from the 60 Barca played in the treble-winning 2014-15 season, registering a win percentage of 83.33 per cent.
